ATS packed slip type expansion joints provide an economical, safe, and reliable method of absorbing large amounts of axial pipe expansion and are the ideal choice for systems with long straight pipe runs. Expansion of up to 12″ is standard in pipe sizes ranging from 1-1/2″ to 24″ NPS. Special configurations are available to accommodate as much as 24″ of expansion in both single and double (48″ total) expansion joints for service conditions to 1000 psig at 750°F. For expansions greater than 24″ contact ATS Engineering Department.
ATS Thermal Pak expansion joints employ the latest technology and are designed to meet the requirements of the ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code as well as the ASME B31.1 Power Piping Code and the ASTM F1007 Specification covering packed slip type expansion joints.
Standard TP2 Thermal Pak joints include such special features as:
- A high performance injectable packing which is suitable for operation at temperatures up to 1000°F.
- Low friction nonmetallic internal and external guides to offer further protection of the hard chrome plated sliding slip.
- Packing cylinder designs that allow in service packing of the joint and uninterrupted process at pressures up to 1000 psig.
ATS Type TP2 Thermal Pak Expansion Joints are certified by Pittsburgh Testing Laboratory to be steam leak-free for 25,000 cycles of the joint at 400 psig.
In addition to supplying expansion joints, ATS also offers thermal insulation blankets designed for the specific application and environment where the joints will be installed. For a complete description of the blankets that are available please click here.
